You have put in a long day at work. You are tired. You come home and know that you have more problems waiting for you there. There is no way that you are going to exercise today. Why add another problem to your life, right?

Nothing could be more wrong. Exercise is the solution to many of your problems, both with weight loss and with life in general. I know that it sounds a little hyped up, but give me a second to explain, and you may be flipped to my side.

The first thing you should notice is that experts are constantly harping on people to go exercise. While it is easy to just blow this off, exercise is the key to a happy, healthy, and thin life. I will lead you through some of the big points of why exercise is so great for you.

Exercise Boosts your Metabolism

That tired, bogged down feeling can actually be helped by exercising. Now I have to define this. If you go to the gym and totally kill yourself, you will definitely be tired afterwards. But the next day, you will have more energy to move around. This is because your body allocates energy based on yesterday's performance. Every day that you exercise, your body will make more energy available for the next day.

The second reason that exercise gives you more energy, is simple. You sleep better at night. More sleep means that you have more energy. You are more alert, and stress affects you less. You are more ready to take on the world.

The last reason that is purely physical. As you exercise, your body boosts up your internal engines. You feel good, you feel alive, and you can do it.

Now for the sane reasoning, do not overdo it with exercise. A morning jog for a fit person brings wonderful results. A morning all out run for an unfit person will have you wasted for the rest of the day. Start easy, so exercise remains enjoyable, and you will gain all the same benefits in the end.

Exercise Boosts your Mood.

The best side effect of a good exercise program is that it boosts your mood. Study after study has shown that an effective treatment for depression is exercise. Plus your body image improves, your ability to get your day's tasks improves and you get to accomplish something every time you go out. Plus an intense workout will give you a runners high...

Exercise Beats the Stress Fat Trap.

Research has shown that people who endure lots of stress tend to be overweight, especially around their middle. This can be easily explained. Your body has not changed much from the time when people had to fight to survive. So when you feel stress, your body releases a lot of hormones to help you fight off the bear, saber tooth, or monster. These hormones tell your body to convert your stores (sugar and fat) into a form that is easily burned to help you run away from the threat, or fight it. Unfortunately, you can not attack your boss, so your body turns the energy back into fat, and puts it on your stomach.

Many people will tell you that the best way to deal with stress is to relax. This is completely bad advice. Relaxing puts the fat directly on your stomach. You have to burn those released calories away. When you get home from work, resist the urge to grab sugar and veg in front of the TV. Instead, put on your running shoes and run until your stress decreases. Then head back home and deal with the home front. This will burn away the stress and the fat, usually in only 30 minutes. (Even more fun is a martial arts class, then you really get to beat something up.)

Hopefully, I have made my point that exercise is essential for living a happy, healthy, and thin life. Go grab your shoes and get moving.
