Common allergy symptoms include runny nose, watery eyes, itchy throat, sneezing, cough, stuffy nose, headache, and puffy eyes. These are common in inhaled allergies. When you have contact allergies you usually have skin irritations, hives, skin discoloration, swelling, itching, and even blisters. Food allergies usually cause digestive problems including diarrhea, upset stomach and vomiting they can also cause breathing difficulty, swelling, and headaches. Seasonal allergies are easy to identify, figuring out what is causing your allergy symptoms so that you can avoid the cause of allergy symptoms can become quite a chore at times. Identifying the common allergens that are present is a great place to start. Mold is one cause that is not always noticed, it can appear that your home is clean and mold free but in reality mold and mildew takes very little time to grow and can appear anywhere there is moisture. Dust can be another cause of annoying allergy symptoms. Dust is made up of dust mite dander, which is a substance that many people are allergic to. When allergy symptoms are present in the absence of environmental allergens that commonly cause seasonal allergies then you need to start looking for the cause of your allergy symptoms. First, if your allergy symptoms are new then you should look at anything that has changed in your diet or any new arrivals in your daily environment. Keep a diary of your symptoms along with the foods you eat and activities that you are involved in when you are trying to pin down the cause of allergy symptoms. This will allow you to go back and see any patterns. If you notice anywhere from hours to 2 days after eating something or trying a new product it is a probable cause. If you have been keeping your journal then you can then look back and notice that you have always had the same reaction you can remove that item from your daily life and see if it stops your allergy symptoms from occurring. If after a week you can try the item again to see if you have any allergy symptoms again or not if you are curious. By using this simple method of trial and error you can narrow down the possibilities until the cause of allergy symptoms is found. If you don't see a pattern you can start removing common allergens like wheat, mold, peanuts, smoke, cow's milk, assorted plants and shellfish. These items cause several thousand allergic reactions daily. This can take a bit longer than an allergy skin test does but you don't have the price or pain of a skin test to go through.
