Whether your need landscaping design software or not is a question on many landscaper’s minds these days, and the software is a wonderful tool for those who have finally found a way to handle their designs on computer software, eliminating lots of the problems traditionally encountered when doing a landscape project. Everything from the layout, the design and placement of things and plants and features, the inventory of necessary things for the project, the budget, the planting list, and the names of contractors can be incorporated into good landscape design software. Is your design to big or too small for you land area? Do you need plumbing, electrical, and other types of support for your design? Do you need special equipment, like a cherry picker basket or chain saws or mulch spreaders, for your project? Many questions can come to mind while researching a project involving landscaping. Some can be solved or managed nicely with software, and if you are a professional, you might consider using this kind of tool. Others however, like Max Ross in North Carolina, have been doing professional landscaping for decades, and come in a long line of old school landscapers who use a pencil or pen and notebook to do all of their designs, consultation notes, inventory, budgets, wages, and special notes to themselves about things like spraying for deer to keep them out of the garden, to spraying for hornets, to tying vines to trellises when the season comes. So they would say, and many agree with them, that to answer the question of whether or not you need landscaping design software is a matter of taste, and how you are comfortable doing business. For some however, it is for sure the way of the state of the art future, and is as much a labor saving device as the wheelbarrow or trowel.
