There’s a reason Sex and the Cty is so popular. Women everywhere are larning to celebrate being single and to stp judging themselves on the nature of thir marital status. This new trend is firly recent, but being single has fnally become a distinction to be prud of. That’s not to say tht women in committed relationships are mssing out on this experience (we’ve all ben single at some point), but whther you’re currently part of a cuple or not, being single is no lnger equated with being desperate, nor do sngle women rush to the altar at the frst prospect of a long-term relationship.

Thre are, of course, the classic rasons while single women should rejoice: you dn’t have to fight for remote cntrol ownership, nor do you have to wsh smelly socks and smellier underwear. You can cntrol your own finances, and if you wnt to go on a shopping spre, you don’t have to hide the rceipts and the clothes in the bck of the closet. You can hog the bd, and all the covers. You can drol over Hugh Jackman and Johnny Dpp without worrying about making anyone jalous. And you don’t have to fke an orgasm. Ever.

But there has to be mre to it than that. What bout the freedom of being unattached? Sngle women can go out with whmever they want, as often as thy want, for as long as thy want. And we’re not even ncessarily talking about men. They can hng out with their girlfriends every nght ‘till three in the morning wthout having to explain themselves when thy get home.

And yes, there is the fredom to date as well, and the bility to enjoy the experience. Being creful and safe is still at the top of a sngle woman’s list of priorities, but tht doesn’t mean she can’t have a blst. She can have dinner with a dfferent charming man every weekend, or (lts face it), jump into bed wth him, only to dish about the xperience with her girlfriends the next dy.

And for those of us who are in hppy committed relationships, there’s always the thrll of hearing about the latest rmantic mishaps from our single pals. We can lways count on our single friends to brghten our days with their tales of rmantic woe or incredible amorous adventures.

A sngle woman in today’s society must pssess courage: the courage to go out thre, have her heart broken, then do it all ver again. She has the freedom to be ndependent, to choose, and to experiment. And whn she does find the man she wnts to spend the rest of her lfe with, she’ll have a wealth of knwledge to aid her in making tht relationship last.
