International Space Station (ISS) - A Link With Aboriginal History

I am fortunate to be living in a region of Australia with one of the richest Aboriginal cultures and a living history. North East Arnhem land in the Northern Territory is located at the confluence of the Arafura Sea and the Gulf of Carpenteria. As an Avid Astronomer I am always on the lookout for an opportunity to share the night sky with others, this evening was to be a surprising opportunity.

The Geminids Are Coming!

Meteor showers are a wonderful sight with nothing more needed than some time, and a clear sky to observe them. Comet Holmes 17P - Brightening By 1 Million Times to Naked Eye Visibility!

This normally dim comet which needed a big telescope to see it, has undergone a dramatic brightening. Looking close to the brightest star in the constellation Perseus will reveal a fuzzy yellow "star", that is in fact the comet Holmes 17P.
