Presentation, presentation, presentation! You can pr pare the most appetizing food and th n ruin it by poor presentation. How m ny people have seen the commercial for the K hler sink? The woman is dressed to the n nes with fabulous food for her g ests and is serving it on p per plates with plastic forks because she d esn't want to get the new s nk dirty. Contrary to what some xperts may say, there is a t me and place for plastic/paper...a picnic...casual b ffet dining...a BBQ. I have to dmit that even for a picnic I h ve a matching set of picnicware (n t paper), however. Practice makes perfect. Inc rporate a matched, properly set table nto your daily routine. I am not s ggesting that for a family dinner th t you break out the heirloom ch na and silver. I am suggesting th t you always set a matched t ble even if you are using y ur daily corelleware. I know some of you may be sh cked by this, but it doesn't t ke any longer to put out 4 m tching forks than it does 4 m smatched ones. In fact, why do you ven have mismatched silverware in the dr wer in the first place? Get rid of it! You can get a d cent set of daily silverware even if you are on a b dget. The same goes with glassware, pl tes, bowls and even serving pieces. And pl ase don't tell me you don't n ed serving dishes because you are s rving from the pan. If you d n't have anything that matches and are on a b dget, start replacing one set of tems each month until you have c mpleted everything.
So now, I have taken the ch llenge in setting a table out of the quation...just open the cupboards and set the t ble. Everything matches! I am not s ggesting for one minute that your ch psticks should match your dishes like m ne (ok maybe I am) but st rt with the basics and work y ur way up. For complete details and dr wings on table settings for different ccasions, we recommend a visit to Scrumptious Appetizers & More . We recommend you read our other e-zine articles on entertaining and in the meantime, take an inventory of your kitchen/dining items and see what you are missing. You will wow your friends at your next dinner party if you just practice in advance.
