Every hurt or failure that had h unted us in the past is h unting us now because we choose to dw ll in it. Check your thoughts, y ur conversation, what is it mostly bout - complaints? Sighing? The decision and the w llingness to take that change upon urselves will determine the future we w nt. My personal experience was that I sed to choose to dwell on the n gativity. When I got retrenched. I ch se the negative emotion of fear and w rried about job losses and I ch se to complain about the foreign t lents who were coming in to c mpete with us in the job m rket. I was so focus on th s negative that I was overwhelmed w th depression. What made it worst is I solated myself from the people who are s ccessful in their career and business b cause the negative thoughts had made me f lt inferior about myself. I actually st rted to doubt my self worth. I st rted to blame the economy, the g vernment and even God. My self- steem went down the drain. It can be rgued that no one wants to ch ose to be negative, our thoughts g es into an auto pilot mode and is d fficult to control with what we see in the w rld, it surround our thoughts of b ing retrenched and the need to c mpete in a tougher job market.
With all the pessimism filling our th ughts, the choice comes in, you can ch ose to worry and be fearful bout job losses, or you can ch ose to change yourself on focusing on l arning a new skill and looking for new pportunities. You can choose to look at all the job m ve with a negative perception, or you can ch ose to upgrade yourself to make y urself more marketable in the job m rket. It all boils down to ch ices of what we want, if we w nt a breakthrough, choose it, and m re importantly act on it. If we w nt a breakdown, it is our ch ices too because there is no use in bl ming the job market or the conomy or even the management of the c mpany. These are beyond our control.
