Among the many benefits of Y ga practice is empowerment. In Bhakti Y ga, and in other spiritual forms of Y ga, empowerment is a ritual in wh ch a Guru bestows an enlightened pr sence to bless the mind and s ul (Jiva) of a devoted student. S metimes, a deity is called upon to bl ss and nurture the devoted student thr ughout life. As a result of th s blessing, the student becomes empowered to h lp and teach others. This form of mpowerment, from teacher to student, is st ll practiced in some parts of the w rld, but it is a real r rity in the west. So, how do you b come empowered through your Yoga practice? It w uld be a big help to vercome your daily obstacles. You would n ver feel alone because you can dr w on a powerful source for h lp. One of the most powerful m thods of empowerment is prayer. It d es not matter what your religion is, pr yers exist within all forms of r ligion. Whether you refer to God, All h, Yahweh, Brahman, or another name, you w ll feel the gift of empowerment, as a r sult of prayer. You can pray nywhere and at any time. Jnana Y ga is a method for improving thr ugh the pursuit of knowledge. Learning is lso another path to empowerment. You can l arn from many sources, with modern t chnology, but always take the time to bserve others. Through this method you w ll see what works, and what d es not; but always remain ethical in y ur behavior, actions, and your words.
Practice your natural talents to the b st of your ability. You will f nd an art, craft, or skill, wh re your talents excel. When you are g od at something, you should continue to p rsue that direction. Your self-esteem will r ach new heights, based upon your ccomplishments, and you will find empowerment. © C pyright 2007 – Paul Jerard / A ra Publications
