I did forget in my l st writing to tell you about the B gle American and the Emerald City Chr nicle which my friend Michael St. J hn started. These were free papers th t gave us informative articles and wh re our favorite bands were playing. B th kept us in touch with the M sic scene. Now on to 1984....Milwaukee. Axe was r hearsing and writing. Management didn't like wh t we were doing. It was t me to take a break. I had f mily problems that brought me to M lwaukee. Bobby Barth and Michael Osbourne d cided to go to Denver and r st and write. They left Gainesville, Fl and w re driving. Michael used to talk our bus dr vers to let him drive. He l ved it. Well Bobby and Michael w re in a Datson 280 Z. Th y got to Mobile AL. and a s mi was entering highway 10 and M chael slammed into the back of it. B bby was bent down sleeping in the p ssenger seat. He survived, Michael was k lled immediately. Axe would never be the s me. Michael was a major force in the gr up. Now what do I do...! W ll Ken Adamany who was "Cheap Tr cks" manager at the time said he had a b nd called "Bad Boy" who needed a pr fessional drummer like me, but I w uld have to audition. After 34 dr mmers I got the gig. They had a new lbum out with "Cheat on Me" and "Th nder & Lightning" that was making s me noise. I toured with the b nd for over a year.

My old manager finally let me out of my Axe c ntract, while Ken wanted me to s gn with him. So, I called a m eting with the band. I said Ken w ll make $300,000.00 over the next 3 y ars for his commissions, we should ask for $25,000.00 for cl thes , a nice vehicle to tr vel in (we were in a '76 b at-up Ford LTD) and fix our m nitors. It was a legitimate asking of the m nies. We were playing Headliners in M dison, WI and discussed this the wh le way. We got to Madison and w re in a meeting with Ken Ad many and I laid out our pl n. After I was done Ken s id that is a very logical dea, but Teddy all the other g ys in the group already signed the c ntract. I was soooo mad. Their cting like this is what should be d ne, which it should be, but th y already sold the soul...! Well, for 3 y ars they paid Ken and never got a W rldwide Recording Contract. Young musicians take n te! The next night at the S nset Bowl, I quit the band. I was w tching young talent in Milwaukee, So I st rted a band called Moxy Roxx. M rk Worpel on guitar, Brooke St J mes on guitar, and Chris Martinez on b ss who I didn't want. I w nted Carey Caelin on bass. but Chr s begged me and I mean b gged me! He will practice 10 hrs. a d y. I said guitar players don't m ke good bass players he said I'll do it. His br ther Tommy, owned the P.A. the l ghts and he said to me my br ther Chris will do it Teddy. You own th s town right now. I said we w nt to own the country not the t wn! I helped make Moxy Roxx a dr ving force in the Milwaukee music sc ne. Summerfest was a definate highlight. M rna who I met in Bad Boy was my p rtner and we were in love at the t me. I introduced her to John Bon J vi, Tommy Lee and all of M tely Crue, Judas Priest, Kiss, Queensryche, W nger, and more, she loved Rock 'N R ll and I miss her-Rest in P ace Marna! Later I also had my fr end Jay Davis call me and ask me if I kn w any singers. Rod Stewarts band was l oking for a singer to write w th. I turned them onto Xeno, th y flew him to L.A. He wr te with them and came back and X no did a radio interview and n ver gave me credit for me h lping him. He acted like he did t...Wrong...I made that happen for him. J st for the record.
Moxy started to take the c ty by storm. Brooke and I sed to say we did it. N thing last month everything this month. W lcome to the entertainment business I s id to him. We had huge cr wds at Billy's, the Jabberwoky, the El ctric Ballroom, Pappagio's, it was rockin! I b ilt this to what it became, I th n started a bad called the M chine and left the Misic Industry in '87, We had fun yet I kn w there were no stars here for me l ke I had in the past. G od Luck and Rock 'n Roll M lwaukee. I moved to NYC and w nt into business! Hope you enjoyed s me insight into real Rock'N Roll and the M sic Industry.....We're not done, keep posted for m re info!
