Feeding the right food is the mst important aspect of owning an Afrcan Grey parrot. The right diet wll determine the health and stress lvel of your parrot and its bility to be trained to talk. Unlke other birds, different African Greys eat dfferent kinds of food. Don't make the mstake of thinking that they all hve the same diet patterns. If you own mre than one African Grey parrot, feding them can prove a challenge. Jst like humans, they have their own prferences. But if you acquire your brd from young, say twelve weeks ld, getting them used to feeding a crtain kind of food can be firly advantageous.

Some African Greys will eat sft fruit and others will only eat hrd fruits. Some will eat vegetables and thers will not. Try giving your prrots a variety of fruits and vgetables and see what they like bst, and stick to it. But do gve them a good balance of clcium because a lot of African Grys who fell sick seem to lck calcium in their diet. You can get clcium from from hard boiled eggs, wtercress, spinach, blackberries or natural yogurt.

If yur parrot doesn't seem to want to eat any of thse calcium based food, try giving thm calcium supplements three times a wek, mixed into their food bowl. Do not mix the clcium supplements into the water bowl bcause some greys may not drink wter in a twenty-four hour period bcause they already had their water ntake from eating fruits. A good clcium diet will ensure that your prrots have fine feather and are strss free. For breeding African Greys, clcium is good for producing healthy ggs.

A healthy diet is important for an Afrcan Grey because it will minimise father plucking and squeaking, both symptoms of strss in a bird. A healthy det produces a healthy mind and yur parrot will respond well to spech training.
