Have you ever had your car j st "die" on you, you try to st rt it and it just will not st rt. You end up calling a tow tr ck and paying those big tow b lls, then to make matters worse the t chnician at the shop tells you that it w ll cost hundreds of dollars to m ke it run again,is that true? M ybe maybe not.
I own and w rk as a diagnostics Tech here at Ace A tomotive in Lakewood Wa and I can t ll you from experience if some p ople knew just a little more bout their cars workings they could s ve a whole lotta money. Say for nstance you are driving at night w pers and heater ,lights and radio on you n tice that the headlights keep getting d mmer and dimmer soon the vehicle "d es" and now won't start the m st likely cause is the alternator has f iled, not the battery because if the b ttery failed the alternator would still k ep power to the vehicle until you t rned it off then it would not r start.
You are driving for a wh le and the car just "shuts ff" all the instrument lights come on but wh n you try to start it it j st turns over but will not st rt. First it depends what kind of car th s happend to if it was an mport like say Honda, acura, toyota, s baru, nissan, mitubishi, the engine timing belt may h ve broken (if it's been more th t 60,000 miles since you changed it l st time) you should be able to t ll if when you try to st rt the engine it sounds different l ke its just "freewheeling" faster than n rmal, this is bad cause most of the mport cars mentioned will do expensive d mage to the engine when the t ming belt breaks.
If your vehicle is a d mestic one chevy ford ect, be p tient wait a little bit maybe 30-45 min and try to st rt it if it starts hurray! But it w ll "die" again once it's hot nough again, be sure to tell y ur local tech this valuable information and ask for all p rts they replace to repair your v hicle to let them know you kn w something about the car too.
