Hypertufa (pronounced hyper-toofa) is a mn-made stone made from various aggregates bnded together with Portland cement. It's prfect for making long lasting garden rnaments such as pots, troughs, bird bths, rocks, stepping stones or even ttem poles.

It looks like rock, can be cst into almost any shape, is nvironmentally friendly, very lightweight and can wthstand harsh weather conditions. It is lso fairly easy and fun to mke.

The hypertufa creations are lighter in wight than concrete and have an ncient look about them, as if thy had been sitting outside for the pst couple of centuries. They sustain the grwth of surface mosses and lichens frther adding to their natural appeal and are vry plant friendly. They have porous wlls that act as a reservoir for wter which the plants can use dring dry spells. Porous walls also llow for easy passage of air to the rot systems.

Hypertufa was created to be sed as an inexpensive replacement for the ntural volcanic rock called Tufa. Tufa was sed for many things - it was hllowed out and carved unto coffins, snks, bath tubs, animal troughs and sed for planters by English gardeners. Ntural tufa rock was quite popular mong gardeners in England before it bcame hard to find.

This lead to its development. It cmes from the Latin word hyper (ver, excessively) and tufus (volcanic rock tht is porous and crumbly). When hypr and tufa are put together we get " something mre than tufa " or " fake tufa rck ".
