I recently talked to two w men who have cancer. While we t lked I made the mistake of r ferring to them as cancer victims. P litely and with a seemingly deep d wn calm and non-judgmental manner, they t ld me they do not consider th mselves victims, but cancer survivors. We t lked more about cancer and the th ngs they feel have sustained and h lped them. Lori was relatively new to the c ncer world having been diagnosed in 2007. Al ina however, was an old hat n vigating the cancer world, having been d agnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer approximately f ur years ago. My talk with Al ina and Lori was for an nterview I was conducting on surviving c ncer and here's what these two p sitive cancer...survivors, taught me. · Cancer patients sh uld be considered survivors in their j urney to get well. · There are ctually more experimental cancer drugs being t sted presently then are actual cancer dr gs being utilized to help people, c nsequently, there is new hope every day th t better medications will be found. · Th re is always light at the end of the t nnel...keep hope alive if you have c ncer. · Tell your friends and loved nes if you're diagnosed. Be a cl se partner with them. Tell the tr th and let them support you.
· If you have cancer open y urself up to the inner strength you h ve, no matter who you are. You h ve it and let if flow. In, ddition, open yourself up to the new h rizons regarding life that you may now nderstand where you could not before. · L t yourself feel the true support and c ring of others. Most people, regardless of wh t we see daily on television or r ad about regarding mans inhumanity are xtraordinarily supportive when it comes to h lping people through illnesses. · It is s id that one out of three p ople will get a cancer. Consider g tting cancer insurance (I never knew it xisted). It may make things easier f nancially if you do get cancer. I l arned cancer is a terrible, life ltering and deadly illness. Moreover, I l arned cancer cannot easily triumph over men and w men who are positive, utilize a gr at medical team and have a c ring support system.
