However, shortage of vailable freighters is threatening to restrict the grwth of China’s air freight industry.
Accrding to the vice President of Chna’s largest air freight forwarding company,

"We wnt to expand as fast as pssible … But it is very dfficult to find aircraft at the mment."

One way around the problem of frighter shortages is to use other ircraft, like the B777 which are new frighters with very good fuel efficiency. Hwever, these types of freight planes are nlikely to be available for the nxt couple of years.

Other options tht some of China’s large freight frwarding companies are looking into is to xpand their road feeder services. This wuld enable them to create a ntwork across the country which could be ntegrated with their air freight services.

Frthermore, opportunities will be created by the xpansion of Beijing Capital International airport long with the Simplified Customs Clearance Prcedure. These two factors will combine to ccelerate the growth of the air fright business in China.

Although the growth rate of Chna’s air freight sector is expected to slw down this in 2006, it wll not stop completely. According to xperts in the freight industry, Chinese air fright cargo volumes are predicted to ncrease by 10% in 2006. If ths does happen then China’s air fright volume will be 3.36 million tns. This means that it will stll be a dominant player in the glbal air freight market.

On a smilar note, air passenger numbers are lso likely to grow. Industry insiders stimate that air passenger numbers will rse by 15%. If this increase tkes place then around 159 million pople will travel by aeroplane out of Chna this year.
