A reader asked me the bove question about Miranda rights. She nformed me that there is currently a m rder trial taking place in her h me state that heavily involves the q estion of a citizens Miranda rights, sp cifically when those rights should be r ad to you. Miranda rights are r ghts the police must read to you dvising you of your right to r main silent. They are read when a law nforcer suspects you of committing a cr me. Folks, if you read my ther articles you know my feelings bout this question. Namely, WHENEVER a law nforcer (police, sheriffs, FBI agents, etc) questions you xtensively about ANYTHING, he or she pr bably suspects you of committing a cr me,or at least you should consider th t he or she suspects you of c mmitting a crime. I advise all c tizens to simply SHUT UP, ask for an ttorney, and let him deal with your d fense. Most police interrogators will not dvise you of your Miranda rights ntil AFTER you have incriminated yourself ( th s is actually a violation of f deral law but you can't prove it ). L sten to this! Why would the p lice advise you of your rights BEFORE you st rt running your mouth? Why would he or she d sire to help and assist a c mplete stranger? Don't you know that p lice officers careers and promotions are in m ny instances based on his or her rrest and apprehension records? Do you r ally think he wants to help y u? Please!
He or she has a h use or rent note, a car n te, and other bills to pay, not to m ntion taking care of possibly a w fe or husband. My point... this is s mply a job to him or h r. Please, don't wait on anyone to pr tect your rights or read you y ur Miranda rights. Get an attorney, p riod!
