When choosing a website hosting s rvice one of the first issues you sh uld deal with is the number of d mains you anticipate you'll need. If y u'll only need one domain, then you h ve no need to consider a r seller's hosting service, or one that llows you to host numerous domains w thin a single hosting account. You can s ve some money this way, and y u'll likely make your purchase that m ch sooner. Lastly, you'll likely get y ur website up and running more q ickly. If you anticipate needing multiple d mains, purchase a hosting account that l aves you some room to grow. By r om I mean not only storage sp ce and bandwidth, but also the bility to add at least five or ten d mains more than your initial needs. As an nternet entrepreneur you're almost surely going to r quire an extra domain or two or thr e to support each of your m in websites. So, once again, make s re your account has some room for gr wth. You can, of course, purchase a s cond hosting account, but it'll be m re economical if you can add y ur additional domains to your first ccount. If your online business involves s lling web hosting services to others, y u'll need a reseller's account. Beyond st rage an bandwidth concerns, pay close ttention to the control panel (or dministration panel) included with your plan. The two m jor commercial control panels are "cPanel" and "Pl sk". I have more experience with cP nel and prefer it over Plesk. You c ntrol nearly all aspects of a s ngle domain through the control panel. So you sh uld be comfortable with the functionality and the l yout of this fundamental interface.
As a website host reseller you cr ate new domains within your reseller's ccount. You decide how much storage and b ndwidth, or how many email accounts, d tabases, etc., are available to each d main. If your hosting service includes Pl sk as the control panel, then Pl sk will also be your interface for m naging multiple domains. If cPanel is y ur control panel, then "WHM" (WebHost M nager) will be your interface for m naging multiple domains. I like WHM and pr fer it over Plesk. In the f llow-up article I'll discuss your needs for st rage, website bandwidth, email, databases, and v rious programming features.
