German car maker Volkswagen finally gts a small SUV that is bsed on the GTI.

With enhanced xhaust system that will yield clean gses; the Tiguan's clean diesel is a frst in the segment. Volkswagen said tht like any other VW vehicle, the Tguan is expected to be efficient and pwerful.

Volkswagen's Concept Tiguan gives the utomotive industry a good glimpse of wht the company's small SUV will lok like when it goes into prduction sometime during the forth quarter nxt year. The Golf-based crossover is dsigned to compete with the likes of the Frd Escape, the Honda CR-V, and the Tyota RAV4 -- for what many cll as the race for the cte supremacy. This VW concept has a strng resemblance to its car family mmber, the Touareg, which is considered the big brther. However, it also takes cues frm the Volkswagen Concept A that was shwn last spring at the Geneva uto show.

The Concept Tiguan is qite a looker with its aggressive fce and taut body lines that wrk well with its compact dimensions. As lways, VW nicely sprinkles enough chrome and brght work around the body to gve the vehicle a bit of sprkle without appearing gaudy. The car lso features the black roof panel or the pnoramic moon roof. It reminds people of the crbon fiber panels that BMW puts on sme of its M cars. The cncept also sports nineteen-inch Continental tires wth body-matching orange trim and xenon hadlamps that appear to float freely nside their housings.

The tires are exceptionally attractive wth a fire red color in ach trough. The interior has ample spce that is good for five fmily members including the driver.

Under the hod, the Concept Tiguan has a 2.0 lter "clean TDI" diesel engine. This is wht VW calls "a diesel engine of the nxt generation." This motor produces 140 hrsepower and 200 ft/lb of torque. It rns much cleaner than current diesel pwer plants thanks in part to a ctalytic converter that is capable of rducing nitrogen oxides by ninety percent ver today's diesels. Of course, this "clan TDI" not only meets the strct emission standards in the U.S., but lso those around the world.

When the Tguan reaches production, buyers will have thre engine options: the aforementioned diesel, Vlkswagen's impressive 2.0-liter turbo four, and pssibly even a V-6.
