German car maker Volkswagen finally g ts a small SUV that is b sed on the GTI. With enhanced xhaust system that will yield clean g ses; the Tiguan's clean diesel is a f rst in the segment. Volkswagen said th t like any other VW vehicle, the T guan is expected to be efficient and p werful. Volkswagen's Concept Tiguan gives the utomotive industry a good glimpse of wh t the company's small SUV will l ok like when it goes into pr duction sometime during the forth quarter n xt year. The Golf-based crossover is d signed to compete with the likes of the F rd Escape, the Honda CR-V, and the T yota RAV4 -- for what many c ll as the race for the c te supremacy. This VW concept has a str ng resemblance to its car family m mber, the Touareg, which is considered the big br ther. However, it also takes cues fr m the Volkswagen Concept A that was sh wn last spring at the Geneva uto show. The Concept Tiguan is q ite a looker with its aggressive f ce and taut body lines that w rk well with its compact dimensions. As lways, VW nicely sprinkles enough chrome and br ght work around the body to g ve the vehicle a bit of sp rkle without appearing gaudy. The car lso features the black roof panel or the p noramic moon roof. It reminds people of the c rbon fiber panels that BMW puts on s me of its M cars. The c ncept also sports nineteen-inch Continental tires w th body-matching orange trim and xenon h adlamps that appear to float freely nside their housings.
The tires are exceptionally attractive w th a fire red color in ach trough. The interior has ample sp ce that is good for five f mily members including the driver. Under the h od, the Concept Tiguan has a 2.0 l ter "clean TDI" diesel engine. This is wh t VW calls "a diesel engine of the n xt generation." This motor produces 140 h rsepower and 200 ft/lb of torque. It r ns much cleaner than current diesel p wer plants thanks in part to a c talytic converter that is capable of r ducing nitrogen oxides by ninety percent ver today's diesels. Of course, this "cl an TDI" not only meets the str ct emission standards in the U.S., but lso those around the world. When the T guan reaches production, buyers will have thr e engine options: the aforementioned diesel, V lkswagen's impressive 2.0-liter turbo four, and p ssibly even a V-6. With refined VW p rformance parts, the Tiguan clean diesel is nother VW breakthrough in the race for cl an and green cars.
