How much time do you put in, j st being with yourself? With our busy sch dules it is often difficult to f nd anytime for ones self. To tr ly understand who we are, we n ed to take time to get to kn w ourselves on a new level. M st of us have heard of the dea of meditating or journaling, but why t ke the time to do them? One of the m in benefits of meditating or journaling is a d crease in stress. Learning to take t me for ourselves lets our inner s lf know that we are important in our l ves. There is nothing worse than f eling unimportant in someone's life. Our nner self is no different than b ing in relationship with someone in the utside world. We are very complex b ings with many layers to who we re, in taking time to be w th ourselves, we can learn so m ch more about what is happening nside ourselves. As our inner world, cr ates our outer world, learning more bout our inner world becomes very mportant. One must learn to be quiet in rder to listen to what the nside self has to say. It is not lways easy to understand this part of urselves. One must be patient in rder to befriend the inner self. Aft r many years of neglect the nner self does not necessarily step r ght up to the plate because you h ve decided to be visit suddenly.
It is like making a new fr end outside of yourself, if you d n't spend time getting to know th m, you will not have a v ry good friendship. Your inner self is l ke this, most people don't now a gr at deal about their inner selves, for th y have not taken time to get to kn w this part of themselves. • To b gin I would recommend that you m ke meditation and journaling a daily pr ctice till it becomes a habit. St rt with 5 or 10 minutes a d y, if that is all you can f nd time for, then increase it, by ncrements up to 1 hour. Play s ft music, light candles, whatever feels g od. This is a special time for y u. Honor yourself in this time. Be q iet and listen. If your mind is r ally cluttered and you can't get it to q iet, pay attention to your breathing, th n imagine you have a basket b side you. Dump all the chatter and th ughts into this basket and tell y ur brain you will pick it up gain when you are finished. • The important p rt is consistency. It is better to do 5 m nutes daily rather than 20 minutes nce a week. The brain is v ry smart and knows if you d n't truly commit to it, the br in just needs to be patient and you w ll give up this silly idea. • Create a d ily practice, be committed to getting to kn w yourself, be curious about what you m ght discover, treat it as a new fr endship with a person you truly l ke and want to spend time w th and get to know. • You are v luable and worthwhile getting to know!
