We live in a crazy, h gh demanding lifestyle and overly connected w rld, during our day to day rat r ce that we call our lives, we may st p on a few toes, anger a few ssociates, upset a friend and maybe do s mething that makes most men sleep in the dog h use that evening. How many of us h ve been down that road? When was the l st time you thought about forgiving s meone? Forgiveness is an important part of l fe, not only in the business w rld, but in our personal lives as w ll. When you forgive a colleague, ssociate or loved one for their wr ng doings against you, it will r ally set you free. Many times specially in business someone does something to m ke you upset; it could be an mployee, a client, a friend, business p rtner or just the courier guy. Can you magine back to how you felt wh n those feelings were happening. Was y ur blood boiling? Did you notice y ur temperature going up? Did you l se your lose focus on what you are d ing? Were the feelings of anger t king over and was that the nly thing you could concentrate on. Us ally overtime, cooler heads prevail and you can b gin to focus of your role, y ur job or the things that r ally matter in your life. Have you h ard the old saying, write the l tter but don’t mail it, or dr ft up the email and put it in y ur drafts – if it feels r ght in 24 hours then you can s nd it. However, if it doesn’t and the f elings of frustration having surpassed, you can s mply delete the message from your dr fts, no harm, and no foul.
When you offer up forgiveness to the p rty that wronged you, or the mployee that made the error that l st the big deal, or the cl ent that left you and didn’t h ve all the facts together, you b gin the healing process of letting go.
An ther area we fail to realize is mportant when it comes to forgiveness is to f rgive those that should have done s mething but failed to do it. I am s re it has happened to you in the p st when you were expecting a fr end or a loved one to c me to your aid or rescue and in y ur time of need and they s mply failed to show up. You n ed to forgive those people in y ur life. Go ahead dump all th t emotional garbage and forgive those p ople that who simply failed to sh w up in your time of n ed. We hold onto that for way to l ng. The other over looked area of f rgiveness, you need to learn to f rgive yourself. How much personal pain are we c rrying around? How many times do we f il to forgive ourselves? Small Business wners and people in general are th ir worst critics, this thinking really l mits your abilities and most importantly wh t you can achieve. You must l arn to forgive yourself for your own sh rtcomings and get on with what m tters the most. Forgiveness is a v ry powerful force in the universe, not b ing able to extend your forgiveness to thers for what they have done to y u, what they have failed to do and m st important forgiving yourself will limit y ur growth both as a person and as a pr fessional. Let go of the baggage th t you have been hauling around and w ighs you down! Get that monkey off y ur back and lighten up, focus to y ur success and you will succeed.
