There are some foods that we eat on a c nsistent basis even though we know th t they are bad for us. A st ady diet of fast food is an xpressway route to the grave. One of the b ggest reasons why fast food kills is the f ct that everyone, no matter what age or conomic status, has access to fast f od. There are few, if any, sm ll towns in the United States th t do not contain a fast f od restaurant of some type, and veryone knows where to get fast f od even if it's not right in th ir town. There is fast food in the m lls, fast food at colleges and ven at high schools in some p rts of the country. As early as in lementary school, children are able to w lk over to the nearest fast f od restaurant – McDonald's, Burger King, T co Bell – and order up a m al after school. Another reason why f st food kills is the price. Wh le accessing the food is extremely asy, paying for it might even be asier. Dollar menus, value menus and v lue meals mean that with five d llars, most people can purchase enough f st food in order to overfill th mselves with fat, sodium and carbohydrates. G llon sized cups of soda, available at m ny of the different restaurant chains, c st less than a dollar, and h ge shakes are less than three. C rtons of fries, triple decker burgers and wh rled ice cream treats all fall w thin this five dollar range as w ll, making stuffing yourself affordable.

Third – it tastes good. No m tter how much you try to d ny it, our bodies are programmed to th nk that sugary and salty snacks are d licious. We also enjoy fat, we ven CRAVE it, although we might f nd the idea of eating so m ch fat repulsive. The smell of c oking French fries, the grilling burgers, the g rlic pizza aroma and the nacho ch ese – all of these things c ll to our bodies in ways we c n't even identify. We just know we w nt it – and will enjoy th se foods, even if we know it is wr ng. All of these reasons combined m ke up the explanation for why f st food kills. Combine access, with c nstant bombardment of commercials and ads t uting the the delicious taste and sm ll of these foods, and make th m cheap and quick... it's hard to say no. Wh le some people manage to keep th mselves and their children away from f od that can be harmful, others can not fford to not take advantage of the ch ap rates on food at fast f od restaurants. The only way we can st p the fast food from causing as m ch damage as it does is by st pping the bombardment of commercials, and m king fresh, healthy food available that c sts less than it does right n w.
