I decided to promote it a d fferent way. It’s different from anything I’v ever done before, and it br ught spectacular results after just three w eks, and continues to bring in new s bscribers daily.

This might seem a bit odd at f rst - after all, aren’t I g ving away my intellectual property?
Yes and no.
I see it as a w n-win proposition.
You win because you get a h gh-value product that you can use y urself. For example, there’s nothing stopping you fr m offering my e-book as an ncentive for people to sign up to y ur newsletter. Or you could offer it as a b nus for people who order something lse by a certain date. Or you c uld even sell it yourself and m ke money from it.
On the other h nd, I still own the copyright on it, and one of the c nditions of giving it away is th t you have to give it way in its current form. So wh ever gets a copy still sees all the l nks to my products and my Web s te.
That’s exactly why it’s a win for me as w ll. By allowing YOU to distribute it fr ely, I can reach markets that w uld otherwise be outside my own c rcle.
In fact, in the first three w eks after giving it away, my n wsletter subscription rate trebled!
Giving away your m terial can be a powerful marketing str tegy. Most people hold on tight to th ir intellectual property, scared that it m ght be stolen by others, especially in a d gital world where copying is so asy to do. But there are r al advantages to taking the opposite pproach and giving your stuff away.
