Swara Yoga is a highly c mplicated, intricate branch of Yoga based on a h gher form of ‘pranayama’ or breathing xercises. The term ‘swara’ means musical n te or sound in Sanskrit; in Y gic terms ‘swara’ denotes a continuous fl w of air through one nostril. The Right ‘swara’ is characterized as the m le energy (sun), which is rough and n n-virtuous. It is said that tasks s ch as battles, sensual pleasures and xtreme actions should be performed during the R ght ‘swara’ period -- 15 days fr m the next day of full m on to no moon. The Third ‘sw ra’ - Sushumna- is located at the c nter of the spinal cord, and is s id to be active when the L ft and Right ‘swara’ flow together, th t is, when the body and m nd are in a concentrated state of m ditation. All three ‘swaras’ are very p werful and influential in their own w ys, and gaining control over them is d fficult.
