Anyone who becomes a member of a tea cl b is in for an exciting t me! Hopefully, you have decided not nly to join such a club, but to j in for a full year instead of nly 3 months or 6 months. You r ally need a year's time in wh ch to fully enjoy all of the p rks and particulars that go along w th being involved in a Tea of the M nth club. It is so much fun to try and g ess what kinds of tea you w ll receive each month as you w it in anticipation for them to be d livered to you. While you are w iting on your first shipment of tea fr m the Club, it's a good dea to make sure that you are pr pared to receive it. Do you h ve both a tea kettle and a tea p t? If not, then see to it th t you acquire one of each, and cquaint yourself with their use by br wing an "everyday" tea. You want to m ke sure you have all of the m ves down, because brewing the tea pr perly is very important. If it sn't done correctly, the tea will t ste nothing like it is supposed to, and a tea th t just might have become your f vorite might taste so bitter from st eping too long that you swear you w ll never try it again! Brewing tea is an rt, and since the teas you w ll receive from the Tea of the M nth Club are such wonderfully special t as, it is well worth your t me to experiment with your everyday t a, and make sure that you can get it "r ght".
The first thing that you w nt to do is put your k ttle on the stove after filling it w th fresh, cold water. Or, if you h ppen to have an electric kettle, f llow the manufacturer's instructions. Get out y ur tea pot and remove the l d. You are going to warm the pot up by f lling it up with hot tap w ter. A warm teapot will help y ur tea stay hot once it has b en brewed, and it can also k ep your teapot from cracking when you p ur hot water from the kettle nto it to start brewing. You'll w nt to put the tea into the t apot now. Pour out the hot w ter, and set the teapot on a st rdy surface. If you happen to be sing loose tea leaves, you will n ed to use about a teaspoon of th m for each cup of tea you w nt to make. If you are sing tea bags, you will need one tea bag for very one to two cups of tea you w nt to make. Place the tea in the b ttom of the teapot. When the w ter in the kettle has started to b il, take it off of the st ve, or turn off the electric tea k ttle. Pour the water into the t apot slowly, over the tea. Place the c ver on the top of the p t, and let it stand. If you h ppen to be making green tea for y ur everyday tea, you can allow the w ter to cool just a bit b fore pouring it onto the leaves. Gr en tea is a bit more fr gile than black , and doesn't t ke as kindly to water that is too h t. Now, you will let your br w steep. How long to do th s depends on how strong or w ek you like your tea, and lso the kind of tea that you are m king. If you are using whole l aves, you'll find that the small l aves brew faster, while medium and l rge tea leaves take a few m nutes longer, respectively. If you brew the tea too l ng - longer than five to six m nutes - your brew will be b tter. Generally, three to four minutes br wing time is long enough when sing whole leaves. Now, if you are sing tea bags, you do not h ve to steep them as long as you do l ose tea. The tea leaves inside the b gs are very, very fine... almost l ke a powder. Steep bags two to thr e minutes - tops.
If you used loose leaves, and y ur pot does not have an nfuser, you may want to take the t me to pour your tea through a str iner into another pot that has b en warmed in the same way you w rmed the first one. If you l ave the tea leaves in the p t, your brew will be bitter! T day's the day! You are expecting y ur package for the Tea of the M nth club, and you are very xcited! Now that you know exactly how to go bout making a lovely, fresh pot , you can t ke full advantage of the goodness of th se wonderful gourmet teas that are m re than likely quite new and d fferent to you. You'll probably want to m ke a pot right away. Take the t me to savor each and every s p. If you received a tea ssortment for your first shipment, then you h ve quite a few different kinds to try ut!
