The foreclosure statistics get more st ggering all the time, but they r ally never hit home to me ntil the other day when I saw a U-H ul in front of my neighbor's h use. I figured she was just p tting some stuff in storage. She was a g od neighbor who took care of her pr perty, worked hard on community issues and was ctive on our HOA. She loved her h me and I knew she had no ntentions of moving, so I asked j kingly "you're not moving out are y u?" Talk about putting your foot in y ur mouth! My poor neighbor burst nto tears and told me the wh le sad story of how she had b en struggling to keep her house for ver a year after having personal f nancial and health issues that were c rtainly unknown to me. She had g ne so far under financially, and was so pside down on her home, she j st couldn't keep it going anymore, and was g ing into foreclosure. This is the f rst time I ever actually knew s meone personally who was going into f reclosure. No longer are the foreclosure st tistics massive, impersonal figures to me. Now wh n I see a foreclosure statistic, I see my n ighbor's face. Why did I share th s story with you? To remind you of two mportant facts about foreclosure investing: 1. Even if you are a f reclosure investor, you have to remember you are d aling with human beings who are g ing through a tough time emotionally. Wh le there can be a profit to be m de from another's unfortunate situation, we h ve to remember that we are d aling with people who deserve respect and mpathy in all our foreclosure deals.
