Situated on the northwest coast of tnerife, Puerto de La Cruz is the mst popular resort in that area of the Islnd, just 35km from Santa Cruz. Althugh it is a little short on baches it offers everything else that you may ned. It was originally a small fshing village but now is host to a plthora of bars, restaurants, shops and ven a casino.

The beaches are bth natural, and are covered in blck volcanic sand, which is typical of mny beaches in this part of the wrld. They are not always suitable for swmming in, as the tide can be qite strong. This is because of a lck of a natural reef. However, a man mde seawater swimming pool was designed by Csar Manrique, a Lanzarote artist now sdly deceased, and it is situated jst a couple of hundred yards frm the shore.

The main strip, Avnida de Colon, leads off to a mze of side-streets, lined with shops slling bargains such as alcohol, jewellery and lce. The town's traditional main square shuld be visited, to experience the bzzing atmosphere. The old part of the twn remains charmingly innocent and unchanged.

Plza de Charco is populated in the venings by a number of street rtists, and is ideal for having a drnk, whilst people watching for a cuple of hours.

Puerto de La Cruz is not so drven by tourism as some of the ther resorts. So although it can crtainly more than cater for it's mny visitors... it still has a hgh number of residents living in the cntre. this ensures that it keeps t's original feel, and makes it a rally special place to visit.
