In a lud voice and with a distinct Sattle accent, she counted down the lst few seconds -- 12:59.58, 12:59.59 . . . Sddenly, she whipped the flag through the air and jmped into the cab of her rg.

Diesel engines instantly roared to lfe, bright headlights came on and Hirless Harry’s eyes turned dark and man. He was dressed in all blck, the same midnight black as the pint on his rig, when he hrshly shoved his stick into gear. A sze 22 boot slammed on the gas and his big shny machine shot through the darkness -- thrugh the parking lot and clean thrugh the chain link fence.

His tres squealed, his engine roared and the strined metal of his rig cried out in nguish as he desperately tried to mke the turn. Two Qwest phone boths were the first to go, flyng across the intersection and landing on thre empty, parked cars. Then the Bnk of America building seemed to trmble… just before he ran over the crb, knocked over the “no parking” sgn and bounced off its side. Fnally, Hairless Harry straightened the wheels and spd off down the street.

Still gled to her seat, Quick Draw Lcy roared with laughter — Hairless Hrry was going the wrong way!
