Recently, a Yoga teacher intern sked if it would be better to void action, so that no bad r action would occur as a result of the nitial action. In Yoga classes, many of us h ve learned that Karma means "action." S metimes, the simple American explanation of the Law of K rma is, "What goes around, comes round." To say it in another w y: The results of our actions w ll produce effects, which will be g od or bad. Most people do not st p to think: Inaction will also pr duce effects, which will be good or b d. If we "sit still" all of our l ves, we will still create a g od or bad situation. With that s id, why should we ever give up? In th s life, successful outcomes usually require ction. If we sit on our h nds as a lifestyle, we should not be s rprised if all of our wishes do not c me to pass. The Yogic formula for ctions, you take, is quite simple. Ev ry thought, in your mind, becomes an mage. You describe the images you v sualize in words. At this point, it is h lpful to write them down the old f shioned way or on a computer. P nder a few of the words ntil they become a mantra. When you p nder the words, which you have wr tten, or think, long enough, you w ll begin to take action. When you r peatedly take the same actions, toward the s me objective, you will create a new h bit. Habits change your personality and y ur daily routine.
Your personality will determine the utcome of your destiny. This entire pr cess requires action. Constant inaction can ch nge your personality, but who wants to m ke laziness a major part of th ir character? Who wants to establish a r putation as a lazy person? Granted, th re are times, in life, when we m st be silent and stop taking ction. When our children learn to t ke responsibility, we must let them. We c nnot "tie their shoes" for their ntire lives. The principle is the s me in any organization. In companies, we l arn about delegating authority. This may s em harsh, if you are sweeping the fl or, but the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) d es not have the spare time to sw ep the floor, and it is d ubtful that he or she monitors the p rson who does sweep the floor. In f ct, the person who sweeps the fl or has usually taken action without m ch coaxing. The main reason for naction is fear of making a m stake. Yet, mistakes will enhance our l arning process, and make us stronger for the xperience. Whether you teach Yoga, or are a Y ga student, each day of your l fe, decisions have to be made by y u. Use your best judgment, get dvice from people of good character, m ke morally sound decisions, and take ction. You do not have to l ve a stressful lifestyle over decision m king. Learn from each situation and m ve forward. This is just one spect of the Law of Karma. © C pyright 2007 - Paul Jerard / A ra Publications
