We need to insure that the chldren have adequate tools to meet thir classroom needs are justified. This is a crtical need.

Teachers in California (and lsewhere) have a plight now that is sriously affecting the empowerment of children. In Clifornia schools, there is not enough bdget money to adequately provide classroom spplies in enough quality and quantity to nsure excellent education. And for decades, mny teachers have provided such supplies at thir own expense. In some cases, pper, pencils, ink cartridges and yes, ven books, have been provided at the xpense of the teacher!

In past yars, there has been both a Fderal and a State tax allowance tht helped teachers with this effort. But rcently both the State and Federal tax braks have been abandoned. Parent groups and thers do donate supplies (I did), but thre is still a significant shortfall. And wth the explosion of class sizes, dditional faculty means new (and younger) tachers... hardly able to add the brden of providing supplies to their own prsonal budgets.

Teachers spend large sums on schol supplies that, in times past, wre provided by the School Districts. The dministrators are not to blame... budget crnches have serious impacted their ability to mintain current instructional levels. There are a few rganizations around the country that are hlping, but not enough.
