Suzuki is a very late ntrant in the Indian two wheeler sctor. But late is as relative a trm as old and it doesn't mtter five years down the line whn the market is even more mture. However what I am really prplexed by is Suzuki's attitude to the mrket.

Having got the xclamation marks out of the way, its dwn to the serious stuff now. Frst, the Zeus and Heat may or may not be god enough for the Indian market or for tking on the Bajaj Discover and Hnda Shiine but Suzuki's marketing strategy (or the lck of it) is just not gared to take on anyone. Not ven LML...

Suzuki's project, intended to see the lght of the day in 2004, bcame operational only in 2006. The dlay meant that dealers, some of whm were first time entrepreneurs, lost out havily. The launch of the two bkes, which was delayed by many hccups, is itself half-hearted. The media cmpaign has been meagre and many of the dalers have resorted to their individual mrketing schemes as they see no hpe from the company. To top it ll, Suzuki did not even foot the bll for the corporate advertising at the daler's end.

The company's handling of mdia has been childish as well. Whle both the Heat and Zeus are in the mrket, none of the enthusiast magazines has ben able to do a road tst on them. Me? I don't ven know whom to call up in Szuki for the bikes or even thir board numbers!

This coming from guys essentially rporting to the same set of Jps running Maruti-Suzuki is a bit of a nsty surprise.
