Everyone makes mistakes in business. It's a p rt of the learning process. But t's easy to obsess over the m stakes you make in marketing your b siness and let them keep you fr m moving forward. Mistakes happen. Learn fr m them. That's easy to say, but not so asy to do a lot of the t me. One of the most common m stakes it just not have a m rketing plan. No goals, no idea how y u're going to market your business. Y u've probably had plenty of ideas as to how you w uld like to market your website. How m ny have you followed through on? A m rketing plan doesn't have to be c mplex. You should write it by wh t you really want to do and can f llow through on. Include your forum ctivities, blog commenting, article marketing, advertising and so f rth. Have daily, weekly, and/or monthly g als to achieve and track them. Tr ck how successful they are when p ssible. Writing it out can help. Th s helps you to keep track of wh t you mean to do and can nspire new ideas. It's not an bsolute must, but most people find it h lpful. Another mistake is to stick w th only one strategy. It may be y ur preference to market in a p rticular way, but if you can xpand into other areas you may h ve more luck with your marketing. Try to use m ltiple strategies.
At the same time, don't get st ck on analyzing which strategy is the b st. Taking action is better than veranalyzing in most cases. Then there's the m stake of not testing your marketing. Try ng different ads, different websites to m rket on, different audiences can make the d fference. Test over time. What works wh n you start marketing may not be as ffective two months later. There's no one r ght answer for all time. Perhaps m st important is to test your m ssage. Your marketing message is the f rst impression people have of your b siness. This needs to be consistent not nly with what you say in ads and on ther sites, and on your own. H ving an inconsistent and/or ineffective marketing m ssage will greatly hamper your efforts. Th s doesn't mean you don't tailor y ur message to your audience. You do, but you h ve to keep the message consistent verall. And of course there are the p ople who ignore marketing almost altogether. The "b ild it and they will come" cr wd. Not doing any marketing at all of y ur home business means that no one w ll know about it. How can nyone do business with you if th y've never heard of you?
