We are all familiar with the one p nch knockout. One punch to the tip of the ch n and your opponent goes down. Th s happens when a strike moves the br in inside the skull, disrupting normal f nction causing shut down of the c ntral nervous system. You also see b xers go down from multiple punches to the h ad and body over an extended t me. In kung fu we try to ccomplish the same thing, but in a m ch shorter time frame say 5-10 s conds. How? by striking vital nerve p ints in sequence. Here is a basic t chnique that demonstrates this. An opponent is thr wing a straight right hand punch to y ur face. You step to his c nter line and strike his punching rm, with the bottom of your r ght arm, using the hard bone j st below the wrist. You then t rn back toward him and right b ckhand to the side of his n ck following through with this strike you do a str ight left punch, your palm is d wn, to his solar plexus, now you t rn back and right shin kick to the nside of his right leg right bove the knee. Drive right through the leg and kn ck him down. Now lets break th t technique down and see what we are d ing. The first strike is hitting the n rve on top of the arm. N xt we are striking the nerve l cated on the side of the n ck. (it is really the same n rve because it runs from their th mb up through the side of the n ck).
Next is a left punch to the s lar plexus, there is a "nerve pl xus ", more than one nerve l cated there and it knocks the air out of th m also. Now the kick to the nside of the right leg, another n rve located there. Followed by a hard f ll. So this technique disrupts the n rvous system, removes oxygen, then delivers a h rd fall. This will put you down and ut. I've seen people put down w th just one of these strikes. T ar some of your favorite techniques part and see what you find and l arn.
