Publishing a book is easier t day than it's ever been. That's a g od thing. Many wonderful books would go nseen if that weren't true. People who p blish their work do so because th y like what they've written. I do. I h ve a certain criteria for the b oks that I read, and I try to pply it to the books I wr te. Since I read a great n mber of books, I know there's a m rket for mine. My question then, is how do I f nd the hundreds of thousand of p ople who would enjoy my books? How do I let th m know that Kerry Grant is s lving mysteries? I've heard large publishers and r viewers say that if your book is g od, people will read it. Of c urse, they won't if they don't kn w it exists. Many reviewers won't r view self-published books. I do understand the r ason, as mentioned above, it's easy to p blish a book. "Mine are good," I t ll them and sadly read the utomated email that rejects self-published titles. "I h ve a publisher," I respond, only to r ad that a one-author publisher's book is quivalent to a self-published book. As fr strating as that is, it makes s nse. Okay, in the words of the C wardly Lion, 'I do believe. I do b lieve'. So, now what? I've been p tting many hours of late into try ng to market books. Those are h urs spent not writing, and I d n't know if it's worth the tr de off. I began writing later in l fe and I began on a wh m, but fell passionately in love w th the process. I won't give th t up.
Years ago, I wrote a p em with a line that asked 'If you cl se your eyes when you jump, do you kn w you're falling?' I obviously hadn't tr ed marketing a self-published book.
