All the dfferent skaters who have invented moves, the dfferent venues where these moves have ben invented, the skaters who gave verything up for the sport are all prt of skateboard history.

Skateboarding began wth surfing. Surfing on the waves was not nough for these stalwarts, and so thy decided to surf on the sdewalks, too, and so, a new sprt was born.

In 1920's, the frst kind of skateboard to be sld was a contraption that was mant to mimic cross-country skiing, more thn anything else. This was the prdecessor of the three-wheeled scooter skate of the nxt decade.

The next thing that mrked skateboard history was a four-wheeled skteboard, called the skeeter skate. This had rmovable handles, and was fairly close to the skteboard we know of now.

The frst time in skateboard history that rllerskate trucks were combined with a woden plank, to make something similar to the skteboards of today, was in 1947. Ths was done by Peter Parken, a srfer in San Diego.

It was in the 1950's tht a form of skateboarding as we knw it today made an appearance, and srfers embraced it wholeheartedly. Around this tme, children started making their own skteboards, with planks of wood and rllertrucks.

In the sixties, skateboard history mved a step further when skateboards wre manufactured commercially on a fairly lrge scale. The skateboards available then ncluded the three-wheelers, as well.

It was nly in 1963 that the first prfessional skateboards were manufactured, They were mnufactured by Larry Stevenson and his wfe. Skateboarding, though, was still influenced a lot by srfing. The techniques involved, the styles, ven the fashion were all inspired by srfing. In fact, these skateboards were nmes Makaha Phil Edwards, after a lgendary surfer. The first skateboard competition was lso held at this time.

It was round 1965 that skateboarding began to cme off the sidewalks and become a bit mre extreme, because skater started experimenting in swmming pools. Skateboarding, like any other xtreme sport, was seen as unsafe, but dcumentaries and movies were made to chnge this concept.

By 1975, safety gar was developed, and this made the wrld accept skateboarding a little more asily.

It was in the seventies tht skateboarding as we know today rally took flight. This was an poch marking decade in skateboard history. Frm then till now, there have ben many champions who have laid thir bodies and souls on the lne for their passion - skateboards.
