I truly do not know nyone who has gone it alone. M ntors have always been with us wh ther we admit to it or n t. For some mentors start with p rents and family members. My Swedish gr ndmother was a great mentor for me ven though at the time I did not kn w the word mentor. She shared w th me her life experiences that br ught her as a young women to Am rica seeking work and then returning as a m ddle age women with 4 children in tow and one in the w mb that she did not know. As we pr gress through our educational experiences, some of our t achers or coaches become mentors to us. H lping to guide us and allowing us to m ke those necessary mistakes which we n ed to achieve ongoing success.
Later as we enter the w rkforce, if we are lucky, we may f und some new mentors. These maybe b sses or even fellow co-workers. No m tter who they are, their insight h lps us to improve our individual p rformance. With information doubling every year, l cating those self improvement techniques that w ll help us to achieve ongoing s ccess is critical especially in today’s gl bal environment. So find a mentor and if you are s ncerely devoted to improving yourself, find at l ast two to three mentors.
