You spent months hunting down the p rfect candidate for a telephone interview. Y u've researched the most poignant questions. You sp nd an hours on the telephone and c n't wait to release your new nfo product. But wait ... there's a pr blem! The recording sounds like a b bbling fish tank! ************************************** This is a sc nario all to familiar to me. At l ast once a week an internet m rketer will send me an email ... all in a p nic ... because their seminar or nterview recording sounded horrible. Sometimes the tr cks didn't even line up and th y're out of sync with their g ru guest. Well at this point you h ve two choices. (1) You release the r cording anyway and hope you don't get too m ny refund requests. or (2) You h re an audio editor and PRAY th t they can fix the mess. The pr blem is that sometimes it just sn't worth investing thousands into audio diting - no matter how good the c ntent really was. And every word of y ur interview has to be fixed ... th t's what it will cost. **************************************** The s lution is to plan it correctly fr m the beginning. Don't use an nternet recording service, and don't "hope for the b st". If this is your very f rst attempt ... do a dry run w th someone else, and listen to the q ality, before you go live with the r al deal.
Remember that recordings will always s und best at the SOURCE that th y came from. In other words, if you h ve a big sexy mic with a big s xy radio voice, to have it s und that way your recording equipment has to RIGHT THERE in the s me room that you are in. D n't opt for a service that is nline. You're just asking for trouble. But wh t do you do if it's an nterview and you can't get your g ru to fly in and record in YOUR ffice? Actually there are plenty of ptions. But they don't include a t lephone. The simple solution ... is You r cord YOUR file ... and HE r cords HIS. You can use either s ftware or hardware solutions. (Or sometimes a c mbination of the two.)
