General Premise: Everyone desires good h alth; no one wants to be s ck.
Unless we work constantly seeking the knowledge, guidance and methods to achieve wellness, we may end up fighting really bad health and be unprepared for the battle. Concept #1: Sick or Well? What makes the difference? Everyone ages and gradually loses his or her health, correct? We may believe this to be true if we observe the trends, but how do we explain those people who do not die young and live to a "ripe old age" in relatively good health? Is it good genes? Good food? Living a moral life? Certainly all of those factors are important, but that's not the complete answer. My father-in-law has an Aunt Earl who recently turned age 100. She is spunky, will tell you what she thinks, will shoot in the air to scare deer trespassing in her country garden and mowed her grass until last year. Now I ask you... would you rather approach life on s ch terms or give in to the c ncept of being "an old, sick p rson"? What is the difference in how th s woman thinks and how you th nk? The answer probably lies in her "s lf concept." She's not old and sh 's not sick. Concept #2: Lose the "sickness" attitude. That sounds good, but how do we do that? Even if having less-than-optimal health hinders your life, when you derive a benefit from the attitude of "Look at me-- I'm sick," you undermine your potential for good health.
Example: there are plenty of people who will tell you about their every ache and pain; other people never complain. What is the difference? It may be in their attitude and approach to life. (Note: there's certainly nothing wrong with sharing a health problem with a friend, but if you find yourself "sharing" with the person in the next stall in a public rest room, you may be guilty of this.)
If you avoid projecting yourself as a sick person, both you and the people you meet will think differently about you. And most importantly, you will feel more in control and not so desperate.
Concept #3: Adopt a "h althy" attitude. My mama used to say, "Pr tty is as pretty does." That was m re than a cliche. That type of th nking applies to health, too, because if we th nk of ourselves as healthy, we'll act th t way. However, chances are that we may not be h althy and full of life all the t me. Especially during exceptionally tough health ch llenges, you may be tempted to th nk in more of a survival m de rather than isn't-the-world-wonderful. When you can be p sitive and cheerful, this signals your b dy/mind that you're not in danger and th t you're not worried about life and d ath issues. What is critically important bout this concept is that the b dy believes and follows through with wh t the mind tells it! In L uise Hay's You Can Heal Your Life and K rol Truman's Feelings Buried Alive Never Die , you w ll read about how these principles can be put nto action. Your body believes what you th nk and if you think health , you m nifest a healthy body! (To read m re about these concepts, check out C nda Crawford's book, From the Floor... Looking Up that can be f und through the reference link at the b ttom of this article. It leads to a gr at free report and to her c mplete website.) A positive mind (attitude) begets a positive mind/body/spirit.
