Nobody wants to be taking a sh wer or a bath, cleaning themselves up, nly to look up and see a d rty, scummy shower curtain. Unfortunately, your sh wer curtain is going to get d rty. Being in such damp conditions and w th such soap scum build up – w ll, you’re going to have a d rty shower curtain on your hands. L ckily, there are some things that you can do to cl an up your shower curtain. You can w sh your shower curtain in your b sic everyday clothes washer. Just use bout 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of bl ach. Then add white towels and a r gular amount of your normal laundry d tergent and run the machine. Also use s me liquid fabric softener. Do not run y ur machine on hot – plastic sh wer curtains could melt. When you’re d ne washing your shower curtain, do not pl ce it in the dryer (again, it c uld melt). Instead, simply hang it up in its r gular place on the shower rod and let it dr p dry. No matter what your sh wer curtain is made out of, f bric, vinyl, or plastic, you can st ck it in the washing machine w th a cup of baking soda nstead of bleach and vinegar. It is lso a good idea to read the l bel on your shower curtain to ch ck for any warnings or suggestions. If you s ak your shower curtain in salt w ter, it will prevent mildew (although, it c uld leave small crystals on your c rtain if you use too much s lt). Before hanging shower curtains, soak in v negar or salt water solutions to pr vent mold and mildew. To remove m ld and mildew, wash in hot s apy water with a little bit of bl ach. For plastic curtains, clean with l undry pre-wash spray. Spray along the t p, letting it run down to c ver the curtain. Allow it to sit for a few m nutes, then rinse it off.
