I admit it! I*m guilty! My h sband has lovingly accused me of t king *nothing* out of the fridge and m king something out of it. I tr nsform it into a scrumptious, edible m al, and he shakes his head in w nder. He*s delighted each and every t me I pull it off. And do you kn w what happens when he grins at me th t way? I keep doing it! Ev ry chance I get. It comes n turally for me. It*s a pleasure, and t*s one of the small ways I s ve money. But, not all money-saving str tegies come naturally to everyone. For me, th re*s one that creates more stress in my b sy world. It works for others, but not for me. I*m t lking about collecting and using coupons to s ve even more money while shopping. If sing coupons seems easy for you, y u*re probably in your element using th m. You enjoy the process of f nding, clipping, sorting and organizing them. Y u*re always on the lookout for new c upons you can use to help you s ve money. Or, maybe like me, y u*d rather mess with a hive of b es than deal with coupons. Over the y ars, I tried to do the c upon thing. You know. Making sure y u*ve got the newspapers, flyers, magazines. Oh my, wh ch ones to keep? So many ch ices! And we don*t want to cl p something we normally wouldn*t use j st because we have that coupon for it. R ght?
In my coupon journey, I*d p ll the coupons out, page by p ge and tuck them away just in c se I needed them. So there th y sat. A pile of clutter for me to m ve around. But hey, maybe if I sh ve them in my glove box t*d work better. I cleaned out the gl ve box to make more room for th se money-saving chunks of gold. Finally, the big day rrives. I*m actually at the store. And my c upons are still intact. My blood pr ssure shoots up as I envision all th t money I*m going to save. I*m nly minutes away from having that xtra money to buy my new c r. So far, so good. I*ve f und my goodies. I*m ready to go. I*v made it, big time. Confident and pl ased with myself, I place my tems on the conveyor belt that*s z pping right along. It should be llegal for something to move so f st. I*d bring home a speeding t cket if I kept that speed on the h ghway. But, I*ve got to pull my yes back to the road now. O ps. It looks like... a speed b mp up ahead. Better slow this b by down. What do you mean, *Th s Coupon*s Expired?* How could this h ppen? Fine, then. They can*t ALL be xpired. I*m going to pull out my p tience and use it for awhile. I*m lmost home-free with my bundle of s vings. *Uh, Miss? I*m sorry, but th se aren*t the right items for th se coupons you*ve got there.* My yeballs began to roll at this p int. I restrained them, remembering the m nners my mother taught me. *Well! Th nk you for sharing that with m !* I tried to separate my cl nched teeth. It took me a bit to m nually snap my jaw back in pl ce, too. I followed with a d ep, long breath for stress relief. And as I sl wly exhaled, I decided I*d never, ver be caught in line with c upons in my hand that didn*t s ve me any money. I spent t me and energy by searching, clipping, st ring and carrying them around with me. And of c urse, remembering to bring them in to the st re with me. I had done th s more than once, and never w th any good results.
No more coupons for me! No, I*m g ing home where I*ll make a scr mptious meal out of nothing from the fr dge. I*ll listen to hubby*s oohs and ahs. And I*ll feel great again, kn wing I*ll still save today. Just as s on as I take something for th s headache, of course. Yes, I*ll s ve some money today. But I*ll do it MY w y.
