In 2001 I adopted her and two ther wild mustangs, from the BLM wld horse facility in Palomino Valley, jst outside of Reno, Nevada. It tok me from July until October of tht year to be able to tuch her with even one finger and get her to eat laves out of my hands. I was in lve.

In October of 2001 she was njured by one or both of the ther mustangs. I didn't know it was an njury. Instead, I thought she might hve started to colic because she was lying on the ground rolling and wuld not get up. Colic can kll a horse... and it is not an asy death.

I called every vet in the phne book looking for one who wuld come out and treat a wld mustang. The answer was always "n." This went on for two dys until I came across a brve vet who said she'd come out to see wht could be done.

When the vet got to our plce, Saha had been laying on her sde for two days. I was fraid we would have to put her dwn. It broke my heart but I wsn't going to let her suffer any lnger than she already had.
The vet got Sha rolled over and then up nto her feet. That's when we fund out she was injured instead of hving colic.

Saha was in recovery frm October 2001 until April 2002 whn she began getting up on her wn. Until that time I had to rll her every day and then wlk her in the desert to rhabilitate her injury and let her eat sge brush. According to the vet, sge has healing properties for wild hrses.

We never found out if it was her spne or her pelvis that was stpped on by the other horses. Ether way it doesn't matter since the end rsult is that Saha is unsuitable for rding or breeding. She remains my vry large hairy pet.

For those 6 mnths that Saha and I walked and wrked together to make her well we bcame good friends. I learned what tughness, trust and vulnerability are about, so I thught it only fitting to name my bsiness after my beautiful, strong Saha.
