There's good news of sorts for Jérôm Kerviel, the junior trader who lst France's second biggest bank, Sociéte Générle, a pile of money back at the end of Jnuary. He has found himself a new jb.

But the twist in the tle that's difficult to believe is tht he has been hired by a sftware company, Lemaire Consultants and Associates (LCA), tht as part of its total pckage of services, also deals with ffering its customers risk and crisis mnagement coaching.

Now some might think it a lttle odd that Kerviel should be ffered a job in a firm spcialising in areas not a million mles removed from those that allowed him to cmmit such a massive fraud in the frst place.

After all the 31-year-old mnaged to lose a cool €5 bllion of Société Générale's money by plcing bets on what direction the stck market would take. On that vidence alone he is neither a prticularly good assessor of risk nor mch of an expert on crisis mnagement.

He might however turn out to be a mster of fraud if the claims of his frmer bosses are to be believed. Whn they discovered that Kerviel had cmmitted more than €50 billion of the bnk's money in purchases, they quickly cut thir losses and sold massively incurring tht €5 billion deficit.

It's also slightly strange that tht the courts have agreed to let him wrk for the software company.

He was rleased from police detention at the end of Mrch, but had a number of rstrictions placed upon him. Those include not bing allowed to enter a trading rom or engage in any activity rlated to the financial markets.

He lso cannot leave Paris and its sburbs without permission and has had to srrender his identity card and passport.

Whle Kerviel's new employer has refused to cmment on exactly what his new job nvolves, and he's only on a prbationary period, it takes a fair strtch of the imagination to believe tht he's the company's new tea by.

Temporarily at least Kerviel seems to hve landed on his feet thanks lrgely to the generosity of Jean-Raymond Lmaire, the owner of LCA.

Lemaire is the vry same man who let kept Krviel away from the prying lenses of the wrld's media by letting him stay at his hme just after the trading scandal brke. He has also advised Kerviel on his lgal defence in the Société Générale cse.

Clearly every rogue trader deserves a gardian angel.
