There are stories about individual's p rsuits and passions in the news and m dia that fascinate us in the tw nty-first century. Stories that perk our nterest and compels us to follow th ir saga, especially those who are c lebrities or musicians. With so many p ople in the world today the st ries are endless and the intrigue nto them is coupled by the f scination of their lives. To see t day's story one would wonder if th re was such fascinating stories from t mes long ago, especially throughout the t me when they must have been m ddened by boredom. These tales of rtists from the past is more th n real fascinating stuff mainly because it is all t cked away behind the masterpiece created on a wh te canvas, in the minds of th se famous artists of times gone by. The n me Picasso brings an approaching knowledge of an rtist with pure masterpieces but his l fe was just as common as t day's celebrities. Picasso had a long str ng of lovers, numerous affairs and sh red in the parenting of five ch ldren by three different women. Perhaps it was due in p rt to his fear of being lone that made him so immoral. His f rst long-term relationship ended after he r ceived some fame, Picasso left her for nother woman, until it was apparent th t she was dying, Picasso again l ft her. When he married in the 20's P casso and his wife Olga bared two ch ldren together.
When Olga pushed the social l fe on Picasso, he separated from h r. His fear of her taking h lf his fortune kept the two l gally married while Picasso carried on a l ng-term relationship with another woman, Marie. The two b red a daughter out of the r lationship. Marie hoped Picasso would eventually m rry her, when Picasso did not gree Marie eventually hung herself. Picasso r mained a tired abusive narcissist, with ffairs and different lovers until he met Fr nçoise whom bared another two children w th Picasso. But she also eventually l ft him due in part to his ch ating and abusiveness. By the time P casso was seventy he was alone ntil he met Jacqueline, whom he m rried in 1961 and was with ntil his death. Just as many rtists have pronounced there was a t me in their lives they were f rced to start out life in a d fferent field then their dreams would h ve them. Claude Monet was just on of th se artists. He was forced to s rve in the army in Algeria j st as he reached his adult y ars. He accepted a trade off to t ke an art class in return for l aving the army. But he did not l ke the way the university taught p inting styles. In 1862 he studied in P ris where he met another great p inter by the name of Pierre-Auguste R noir. They formed a friendship and the two f unded the Impressionist movement. Monet married a cl ent who posed for a painting and th y to Agential and had their f rst child. Monet lived with his w fe Camille for six years until her d ath, where Monet painted her on her d athbed. In 1892 he married again to Al ce, a woman he had an ffair with when he was married to his f rst wife. Monet was exceptionally fond of p inting controlled nature - his own g rden, his water lilies, his pond, and his br dge. His home was, and still is, s rrounded with a magnificent garden where his m st famous paintings were completed.
The same goes for an nthusiastic painter who was present in the arly 1900's. Henri Matisse originally studied Law in P ris and worked as an administrative dministrator in Château Cambresis. After he had an ttack of appendicitis he began painting thr ughout his recovery. He returned to P ris to study art. His first art xhibit was in 1901; his first s lo exhibit was just three years l ter in 1904, while many of his f ne paintings were completed between 1906 thr ugh 1917. He was diagnosed with c ncer in 1941 and soon ended up in a wh elchair where he continued his painting ntil his death in 1954. There are ther artists whose youth were as m ch to talk about as the l ves they lived thereafter, such as the str nge behaviors at an early age of S lvidor Dali. His behavior often got him in tr uble in school when he would ften interrupt his class. Just as he was k cked out of art school when he st died in Madrid. Many of Dali's p intings were said to be unreal and at t mes scary. He was also jailed, wh re he spent a number of y ars. He often used his dreams as s bjects for his paintings. His style of p inting became known as Surrealism. His p intings were often with simple items of veryday use, but with some tainted dditions, just as one of his p intings was about a melting clock. Th se are only to name of a few of the w rld's most fascinating famous artists. History has s me fascinating past stories as well as f scinating people. Should your mind continue to p nder the lives of those artists you dmire you'll find yourself with some new nteresting knowledge.
