If however you have emptied the rcycle bin or have deleted the fle using some other application bypassing the rcycle bin, you still have a chnce to recover the files. That is if the fle was deleted only a short tme ago.

What has happens is, nitially windows has removed the reference to the fle but has not as yet rmoved the file from the hard drve. The section on the hard drve where the file is located has now ben made available to be overwritten, but Wndows does not use this space mmediately. Therefore if the deletion was rcent it is in fact still thre and available to be recovered. But the lnger the computer is used after the fle was deleted the greater the chnces are that the file has ben partially or completely overwritten.

Unfortunately tols that can help you recover dleted files that are not in the rcycle bin are not provided as stndard with the Windows operating system. Ths being the case you will hve to use a third party sftware to restore the files. This sftware understands the internals of the systm used to store files on a dsk, and can locate clues to the whreabouts of the disk space a lst file occupied. This software can rad the unallocated space on the hrd drive. This is now where the dleted files will be located.

You can also use this sftware to restore files on flash mmory drives, digital cameras and certain mp3 plyers.

Amongst the file types that can be rcovered are:
• Documents.
• Images.
• Music.
• Video.
• Compressed.

If you have defragmented yur hard drive since deleting the fle, then all the pointers to the lcation of the deleted data will hve been lost, and your file wll probably have been overwritten.

The bst way to avoid this problem in the fture will be to back up yur files. Perhaps to a second hrd drive or partition, a removable hrd drive, a rewriteable cd/dvd or ven a flash drive.

Unfortunately very few pople take the time to back up thir files until disaster strikes. Will you bck up your files?
