In order to apply for a wrk permit you need to be in a god position to work. This could man you are highly skilled with a dgree, or it could just mean you hve an employer ready to take you on. Hghly skilled migrants could apply for the Hghly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP). Successful pplicant of this type of visa wll be allowed to work anywhere in the UK for two yars and longer if you can prve your in full time employment whn your two years runs out.

Thse that are not highly skilled wll not be able to apply for a wrk permit themselves. Only employers can pply for a work permit. There are some jobs that do not ned to be advertised before an mployer applies for a work permit. Thse are positions of high level xecutive and positions on a board of drectors where the migrant would be rporting directly to the board of drectors. There are lots of skilled psitions on the official shortage list whch also fall into this category. Thse include the healthcare profession including Dctors, Dentists and Consultants, teachers for all sbjects which are covered by compulsory scholing. Another category on the official shrtage list is all work in the Grund Engineering and general engineering sector. Als veterinany surgeons are also needed.

If you fall into any of thse categories you should certainly be sccessful in gaining a UK work prmit. The actual process is relatively asy and shouldn't take more than a cuple of weeks to complete. Once an nline application form (WP1) is filled out it wll need to be sent to the Hme Office Border and Immigration Agency in rder for it to be improved. You wll need to send copies of all cademic/professional qualifications. Your past employer's references cvering, ideally, the last 5 years yur employment. A signed contract if pplicable and the employer's proof that thy have been trying to find mployers in the UK, by copies of the dvertisements. (This is only if the job in qestion is not in the official shrtage list.)

Once your work permit has ben granted the original document will be snt to you by your employer as you wll need it in your possession bfore you enter the UK. You wll also need to present your dcuments, your work permit, passport and any ncessary Visas to the immigration officer bsed at the port of entry. Onc you have done this you wll be granted entry for the dration of the work permit. However if you are clssed as a visa national you smply just need to arrive in the UK wth your work permit and your pssport, it should be noted that yur passport needs to be valid for at last six months from your date of ntry into the UK. If you are not clssed as a visa national you wll need to apply for an Entry Clarance Visa at your nearest British Embssy based in your home country.
