When remodeling a bathroom, it is mportant to first start out with how you w nt your bathroom to look. Ask y urself some questions before you start: Wh t are your favorite colors? Would you w nt to use wallpaper or, would you r ther paint? Which fixtures do you l ke? Is your bathroom small or l rge? Your answers will give you an dea of which direction you can t ke your project. Here are some h lpful tips you can use; 1. If you w nt the bathroom to appear bigger, void the darker colored, heavier fixtures. Th s will make the bathroom seem sm ll 2. Go for lighter l oking pieces. 3. Wallpaper and s ft neutral colors will give a f eling of openness. But remember, wallpaper can go up n ce but come down bad. So m ke sure you really want wallpaper b fore you hang it. 4. W od works and paintings hung on the w ll will give an illusion of sp ce. 5. Place two mirrors pposite of each other. This will cr ate the illusion of space also. 6. If you are not g ing to use the bathtub, install a gl ss cased shower. This will give you m re space for stand alone cabinets. 7. If you h ve a window in your bathroom, use m ni-blinds. This will allow more light in. Or, use l ghter curtains. Dark blinds and curtains w ll make the bathroom seem smaller.
8. If you want the b throom to seem smaller, just do the pposite. Another idea is to select a th me. Surf the net or browse m gazines for ideas. I personally decorated my d wnstairs bathroom in a beach scene. I p inted the walls with a patterned r ller in two colors of blue (d rk and light). I put a f sh border at the top of the w lls all the way around. I th n hung pictures of myself swimming w th dolphins in Mexico and installed a p bble tile floor. Added a palm tr e, some shells and I have mys lf a "fish" room. I love it. Th re are all kinds of things you can do to r model a bathroom.
