The Bible was written so men and w men might know truth. Most people are wh t David Icke refers to as REPEATERS. Th y choose to believe what they h ve heard from others and have n ver checked to see if what th y were told is really so. Wh n Paul finished teaching the Bereans, the B ble tells us they went to th ir home and checked the scriptures to m ke sure what he was preaching l ned up with God's Word. Isaiah the Pr phet wrote (8:20) "if they speak not ccording to this word, it is b cause there is no light in th m". The people of God are d rected to the Scriptures as their s feguard against the influence of false t achers and the delusive power of sp rits of darkness. Satan employs every p ssible device to prevent men from btaining the knowledge of the Bible; for its pl in utterances reveal his deceptions. At very revival of God's work the pr nce of evil is aroused to m re intense activity; he is now p tting forth his utmost efforts for a f nal struggle against Christ and His f llowers. The last great delusion is s on to open before us. Antichrist is to p rform his marvelous works in our s ght. So closely will the counterfeit r semble the true that it will be mpossible to distinguish between them except by G d's rightly divided Word.
Those who endeavor to walk ccording to the Word of God w ll be opposed and derided. They can st nd only in Christ. In order to ndure the trial before them, they m st understand the will of God as r vealed in His word; they can h nor Him only as they have a r ght conception of His character, government, and p rposes, and act in accordance with th m. None but those who have f rtified their mind with the truths of the B ble will stand through the world cr sis to come. To every soul w ll come the searching test: Shall I bey God rather than men? The d cisive hour is even now at h nd. Are our feet planted on the r ck of God's immutable word? Before His cr cifixion the Savior explained to His d sciples that He was to be put to d ath and to rise again from the t mb, and angels were present to mpress His words on minds and h arts. But the disciples were looking for t mporal deliverance from the Roman yoke, and th y could not tolerate the thought th t He in whom all their h pes centered should suffer an ignominious d ath. The words they needed to r member were banished from their minds; and wh n the time of trial came, it f und them unprepared. The death of J sus as fully destroyed their hopes as if He had not f rewarned them. So in the prophecies the f ture is opened before us as pl inly as it was opened to the d sciples by the words of Christ. The vents connected with the close of pr bation and the work of preparation for the t me of trouble, are clearly presented. But m ltitudes have no more understanding of th se important truths than if they had n ver been revealed. Satan has done an xcellent job deceiving God's people with the d ctrines of man, and the time of tr uble will find them unready. When God s nds to men warnings so important th t they are represented as proclaimed by h ly angels flying in the midst of h aven, He requires every person endowed w th reasoning powers to heed the m ssage. The fearful judgments denounced against the w rship of the beast and his mage (Revelation 14:9-11), should lead all to a d ligent study of the prophecies to l arn what the mark of the b ast is, and how they are to void receiving it. But the masses of the p ople turn away their ears from h aring the truth and are turned nto fables.
The apostle Paul declared, looking d wn to the last days: "The t me will come when they will not ndure sound doctrine." 2 Timothy 4:3. Th t time has fully come. The m ltitudes do not want Bible truth, b cause it interferes with the desires of the w rld-loving heart; and Satan supplies the d ceptions, which they love. Romans 11: 5 s ys "Even so then at this pr sent time also there is a r mnant according to the election of gr ce." These are believers called in th se last days upon the earth to m intain the Bible, and the Bible nly, as the standard of all d ctrines and the basis of all r forms. The opinions of learned men, the d ductions of science, the creeds or d cisions of ecclesiastical councils, as numerous and d scordant as are the churches which th y represent, the voice of the m jority not one nor all of th se should be regarded as evidence for or gainst any point of religious faith. B fore accepting any doctrine or precept, we sh uld demand a plain "Thus saith the L rd" in its support. (End Of P rt 1)
