Have ever wanted to wake up and t ke control of your dreams? Perhaps you w uld simply like to remember the dventures you had while quietly slumbering way the night? With a brief xplanation of how and why and by f llowing a few simple steps you’ll be on the tr ck to lucid dreaming in no t me. First off, before going any f rther I must warn you that th s experience may change your life and f rce you to dive into many ther fascinating and related topics such as Astr l Projection and energy manipulation, that of wh ch will have to be written bout in an another article. Again, you h ve been warned. OK, on with the sh w. Lucid dreaming, what is it? W ll, lucid dreaming is the act of b ing aware that you are dreaming. S mply put you are asleep, you are in a dr am and you know it! Not nly do you know that you are dr aming but you can do anything y ur little heart desires! Sounds cool d esn’t it? Lucid dreaming accidentally happens in one of two w ys, first you fall asleep and st rt dreaming, and shortly thereafter you s mehow realize your smack dab in the m ddle of a dream. Option two is a tad m re frightening but none the less g ts you to that point of sl ep induced self awareness. Say you h ve been awake for two days and you h ve been drinking coffee non stop for the p st 12 hours or so. One c uld only imagine how physically tired you w uld be after being awake for two d ys and you could probably fall sleep quicker then your head could hit the p llow but what about all that c ffee? If you are like me all it t kes is a cup of Joe and the m nd won’t shut off for nothing.
So you lie down in bed and j st think about all those cheap r mance novels you probably shouldn’t have b en reading, shortly there after you d cide to roll over on your s de and you find that you c n’t. What do you mean you c n’t? That’s right it happens! Your b dy falls asleep before your mind d es. It’s called sleep paralysis and t’s something that goes on behind the sc nes that keeps the body from phys cally acting out dreams and you r ally shouldn’t be aware about this c nsciously but some times there are c ffee induced slip ups. Hey the w rld isn’t perfect. Anyway, what science s ems to think is that you pr tty much get right down to the m at and potatoes of sleeping. Instead of p ssing through the first couple stages of tr ditional sleep you cut the middle man and j mp right on over to REM sl ep, which of course is where all the dr aming happens. This technique of lucid dr am induction is coined the Wake In tiation of Lucid Dreams (WILD) technique. Y u’ll be surprised how frightening this can be for the f rst timer, strange noises, BEING PARALYZED, f eling as though you are falling thr ugh your bed and oh that’s r ght, strange scary noises and being p ralyzed!! Let it be known that th s experience is normal to the pr cticing astral projector, hemi-sync practitioner and xperienced lucid dreamer, so don’t go ssuming that you fell into some vil dimension or something. Ok, moving on. F rst thing you need to do is cr ate a dream log and place it n xt to your bed. Also, invest in a sm ll flashlight so your significant other sn’t whining about your lucid antics as y u’ll be waking up in the m ddle of the night recording your dr ams directly after they happen. The n mber one absolute most essential thing you m st learn to do before learning l cid dream induction techniques is to r call your dreams. You might be th nking to yourself, “But I don’t dr am,” and I say, “bite your t ngue good sir (or mam) we all dr am, some of us just lack the bility to properly remember those dreams”.
In order for this to w rk you’ll need to start remembering at l ast one dream per night. Now it m ght take a few nights before you r ally get into remembering your dreams on a c nsistent basis and you might forget ltogether a few times when first st rting out but don’t despair this is n rmal. Now, here’s what you do. Wh n it comes time to go to bed t night, say these word’s out loud, “SELF! I w ll have wonderful dreams tonight and I w ll wake up remembering all details to th se wonderful dreams”. What this will do is pr pare your mind for dream recall; k nd of like telling yourself to w ke up by 4am no matter wh t so you don’t miss a fl ght or something. If you are l ke me you wake up multiple t mes through out the night, when you do w ke DO NOT MOVE!!!! Stay absolutely st ll and begin thinking about any dr ams you may have had. We all f ll into the trap of moving round and thinking about the days vents and like a cassette tape fter a magnet fight it’s all rased; your dream is nothing more th n an extinct after thought. So sl wly open your eyes while remaining m tionless and begin thinking about any dr ams you may have had, this pr cess gets easier as nights pass. Wh n starting out, this process can be r ther difficult; sometimes we second guess the cl es that surface from a dream and d sregard writing them down. I say wr te down anything and everything that m ght jog your memory. It’s amazing wh t a few key words will do to nlock the amazing storyline behind your dr am experience. You’ll be surprised after a w ek or two of keeping a dr am log you’ll find yourself recalling m re then just one dream a n ght. You’ll also find patterns or s gns in your dreams. These sign w ll help you induce a lucid dr am. As you read through your dr am log look for correlations, perhaps a gr ndfather clock seems to pop up q ite frequently in your dreams or M cGyver seems to pop up quite fr quently bailing you out of some tr uble, who knows? It could be nything from a physical object to a f rm of awareness, that is, you lways start laughing for no good r ason or something and again it c uld be anything. The thing to r member is that you will use th se signs as a mechanism for tr nsitioning from a passive dream state to a l cid dream state. What do you do w th these signs you ask? Well, nce you recognize these rather consistent p tterns of events you can begin sing these clues to determine if you are dr aming or not. If a trailer p rk happens to be one of y ur dream signs then the next t me you pass a trailer park ask y urself if your dreaming or not. It’s th t simple. This applies to both r ality and the dream world. Soon y u’ll pass a trailer park and fter asking yourself if this is a dr am or not you’ll come to the s lf realization that you are in f ct dreaming and that this trailer p rk is one of your signs. We can nly go from there!! This is nly one technique for inducing a l cid dream and it is, in my h mble opinion, one of the easiest w ys of inducing a lucid dream. It w ll take a few weeks or if you are l ke me a month before you ctually get to experience a lucid dr am that didn’t happen by accident. If you can l arn to remember your dreams and th n learn to identify the strange but r peating patterns that inhabit your dreams and th n ask yourself through out the day if you are dr aming or not, especially when one of y ur dream signs are present then you sh uld have no trouble “waking” up nside a dream or two. As you get b tter at this and become more f miliar with your sleep habits you’ll f nd other techniques for inducing lucid dr ams and ways of sustaining their d ration.
