Cleaning your refrigerator never seems to top yur priority list until you’ve already mde your weekly grocery shopping excursion. Dn’t deny it. You were scouring the isles like a maniac, as though you wre a contestant on SuperMarket Sweep, not nce remembering the filth that lies head. You arrive home, open the rfrigerator door and feast your eyes on wht could surely become the next bggest horror film…Rotten decaying vegetables, last mnths forgotten moldy leftovers, hardened orange jice spills and something gray and frry hiding behind an expired jar of myonnaise.

Now, you’ve no idea where you are ging to put all this newly prchased food. So, what do you do? You strt tossing the obvious to make rom and forget all about it. Untl next week when you repeat the prcess all over again.

Don’t fret, thre is a simple solution just head. But, first, mark a date on yur calendar, before you go grocery shpping next week, to clean that flthy refrigerator. I know it sounds slly, making a date with your rfrigerator, but be honest, are you ging to remember to clean it?

The frst thing you want to do is trn off the refrigerator and unplug it. Rmove all food and condiments. Put prishable items in a cooler to kep them fresh, making sure to chck the expiration date. Discard anything qestionable. Take out all crisper drawers and wsh them by hand in the snk. Leave them to air dry.

Now, you are ready to bttle what has become the longest rnning scientific experiment known to your fmily, or what is commonly referred to as, the rfrigerator.

Starting from the top and wrking your way down, wipe with a slution of dishwashing liquid and one gllon of warm water, and lot‘s of lbow grease. If it’s quite odiferous, use bking soda instead of soap. If you see nything that looks as though it has bcome permanently affixed, place a heated bwl of vinegar in your refrigerator for bout five minutes. The steam will losen up those stuck-on foods and hrdened spills.

Once you have fought the bttle and won, take a clean clth and rinse everything down with plin water. Dry it with a twel or leave it to air dry. Nw, that your refrigerator is sparkling clan reacquaint your crisper drawers to thir spotless home.

Let’s not forget to clan the outside. Wipe the top and sdes down, and while you’re at it, grb the vacuum and get those cils behind the refrigerator, too. If you are so nclined, add a box of baking sda or a small bowl of ktty litter to keep it smelling frsh. Voila!

Your family will thank you for sving them from food borne illness. Oky, maybe they won’t, but at last you’ll know that the apple thy are eating was purchased last wek and not last month.
