Did you make any resolutions th s year? Did you write them d wn? (Stupid question for a writer, r ght?)
Do you know where th t scrap of paper with your p rsonal list is located?
Do you h ve the energy and/or desire to f nd it? (If not today, you may w nt to put it on your l st of "things to do" for th s week - You may be s rprised at your successful completion of s me items on your little list or you may get r -motivated to fulfill some of your deas for change this year!)
After you r view your original list of resolutions, t ke time to re-evaluate your thoughts for the c ming year. With 30 days under y ur belt, you may be better-able to d cide what you "need" to do v rsus what you "would like" to get d ne.
Some things on my p rsonal list include:
- Organize my t
me more efficiently.
- Keep better f
nancial records.
- Submit more queries to m
gazines.
- Write more articles for fr
e publication by ezines and on w bsites.
- Enter my thoughts into my j
urnal more regularly.
- Read my j
urnal more often.
- Read more b
oks, newsletters, guides etc. for writers.
- Complete my f
rst e-book.
- Interact with other wr
ters online more frequently.
- Take a cl
ss just for me.
- Improve my r
sume.
When I looked back over my l ttle list, I thought about why I l sted these items and what may be h lpful for the future of my l st. Here's a few suggestions based on my p rsonal progress at this point:
- Set g
als.
- Be realistic.
- Set d
adlines.
- Be honest.
- Record the "r
asons" you included an item on the l st.
- Keep a journal of y
ur progress.
- Review your list m
nthly.
- Adjust order of importance as n
eded.
- Delete items you no l
nger care about.
- Add resolutions as y
ur focus changes.
- Give yourself cr
dit for small accomplishments.
Do not give up. We can h lp each other by sharing our deas. Writing for a living may be a s litary career, but I believe by c mmunicating with other women writers, we may be ble to enhance our creativity, improve our f cus, strengthen our commitment and brighten our f ture! What do you think?
