RSS is short for Real Smple Syndication. RSS is one of the bst and easiest ways to add cntent to your blog or web ste. In fact all you have to is smply set it up and it tkes care of itself. You can say tht bloging and site building with RSS is a set it and frget it type of thing.
There are sveral ways however to put RSS feds on your web site or blg. Each way you do it has t's advantages and disadvantages. For the prpose of simplicity we will cover the two min ways to add content to yur web site via RSS feeds.
Adding RSS Feds To Your Web Page Using Jva Script
Adding RSS feeds to your web pge or blog using Java Script is the smplest way to do this. Although it may be the asiest it is not by far the bst way if you are looking to mke spider food for the search ngines.
When adding RSS feeds via Java Scrpt the feeds content is retrieved frm the RSS feeds host site. It is thn displayed on your page for yur visitors to see it. But tht is the problem with using Jva Scripts to display your RSS feds. Only your visitor will see it. Sarch engine spiders will simply see nthing. This means that the search ngine thinks nothing has changed but yet yur visitor see's something completely different.
To add a RSS fed using Java Script you just ned to add this simple piece of cde to your web site. To mke this simple for everybody we wll use a site that will gnerate our Java Script that we wll use to display the RSS fed that we choose on our web pge.
To start off lets go to rss-t-javascript dot com. On the left hnd side you will see a btton labeled RSS/RDF Converter. Go ahead and clck on that one. You should now see a new pge titled Convert A Feed. Simply go head and fill in the fields on the pge. You can always go back and mss with all the various settings and rpublish it on your web site to see how thy effect your RSS feed. When you are dne go ahead and hit preview and see if wrks. If it does go ahead and hit Gnerate Java Script. This will make the cde we need to display the RSS fed on your web page.
You should now be on a new pge. What we want from this pge is the code that will be dsplayed in the little white box. Go head and click on Highlight All and it wll highlight the code. Now right clck and click copy. Now go head and look at the code for yur web page. Find out where you wuld like the RSS feed to be dsplayed and right click there and hit pste. Now simply go ahead and pload your web page again. You shuld now see the RSS feed on yur web site.
