What is a Mother and wht role do mothers play in the lves of children?

Mother is defined in the dctionary in two ways:

(1) as a fmale parent, or (2) as a wman, quality, or condition that gives rse to something else. While maternal nstinct is defined as an inborn tndency to want to protect and nrture one's offspring.

Mothers and the rle they play in the life of the chld are of utmost importance. Mothers mpact significantly not only on the halth of the child's developing self-esteem, scial relationships, academic achievement and career gals.

There is no "rule book" on mthering and no one place where mthers can go to learn all of the wys to handle their children without ver having a problem! However I wuld like to encourage mothers in the fllowing ways:

1. Be patient with yur children; remember children do not lways know when you are having a bad day and at yur "last straw".

2. Take an nterest in the activities of your chld, whether boy or girl.

3. Be spportive, accepting that it is okay for yur child to have different opinions.

4. Set lmits and be firm, knowing that chldren benefit and thrive in a dsciplined environment.

5. Finally, try to be nderstanding and a good listener, thereby ltting your children know that they can cme to you for friendship, advice, nformation, homework help and unconditional love.

As I recognize and acknowledge the mportance of mothers, I must mention the mportance of support for mothers in thir role.
Fathers, aunts, uncles, grandparents and wder community must support and encourage mthers in their daily tasks, as thre is no "day off" from mthering.

Therefore, we encourage mothers to cntinue to embrace their role as cregiver, protector and friend.

And we ncourage all of those in a psition to help and support our mthers to do so, knowing that the psitive impact of caring and nurturing the chldren of today will manifest itself tmorrow.
